POLICIES & ORDERING
The products offered by Shelter Ecology, Inc. are the least toxic, best quality and most durable that Cindy Meehan-Patton has personally and professionally worked with. Because sensitivity to materials varies greatly from one individual to another, it is strongly recommended that you test each product before purchasing quantity.
Shelter Ecology, Inc. stocks samples sizes of all finish products and a sample library of all floorings, fabrics, substrates and countertop materials. Testing the product first enables you to better determine your own tolerance level and as your contractor performs samples for each finish, it gives him or her the confidence needed when working with a new product.
A product is only as good as it is installed, as the saying goes. So, please read all product instructions prior to use. Call if anything is unclear. Shelter Ecology, Inc. will not be responsible for mishandling or improper use of any product.
1. Because Shelter Ecology, Inc. has a storeroom through her home office in Asheville, NC- Cindy is able to offer competitive pricing on her product lines. All products are priced below retail. Quantity discounts may apply to flooring products and finish product (for 50 gallons or more of a product).
2. Catalog pricing does not include tax or shipping. Prices are subject to change at any notice.
1. Shelter Ecology, Inc. ships out through UPS the same day you order as long as the product is in stock.
2. $1.50 per quart, $3.25 per gallon and $13.00 per 5 gallon are added into all AFM orders that are shipped from Shelter Ecology, Inc. to you. (Shelter Ecology splits the actual shipping charge from AFM to her office with you. ($5.50 per gallon, $25 per 5 gallon))
3. UPS shipping rates will vary per zip code. A gallon of paint will cost between $10 -$15 to ship and a 5 gallon container will cost between $22-$28 to ship.
Shelter Ecology packs 2 gallons per box, and packs them VERY well, to prevent damages during the transit process.
4. Special orders for tinted products (ordered through Shelter Ecology, Inc. and shipped directly to you from AFM) will include one of the following 2 pricing and shipping methods:
– Small special orders (less than 15 cases- a case = 4 gallons of product versus 1 total 5 gallon container) SHIPPED DIRECTLY FROM AFM TO YOU will have a 20% increase per gallon on products and a shipping and handling fee in addition to the UPS price of $13.50.
– Orders of 15 cases or more can be shipped via a freight truck so the pricing in the Shelter Ecology, Inc. catalog does apply here (+ shipping)

5. If you would prefer to pick product up at Shelter Ecology, Inc., simply call the order in on Cindy’s secure phone line with your payment method (Check, Cash, Visa or Master Card) and it will be placed on the front porch bench for you to pick up at your convenience.
6. If a charged order is over $100, I charge a handling fee of 2.5%.
1. Returns on unopened, untinted and undamaged products may be made within 30 days of purchase. A 25% restocking fee is applied to all returns. So, it is best to have precise and accurate square footage amounts prior to ordering. This saves you time, trouble and money in the end.
2. Finishes must be stored in a heated and air-conditioned space and will be ruined if they are frozen. Shelter Ecology, Inc. will not be held responsible for product that freezes once it is shipped.
3. No refunds are given on shipping or products that are returned to Shelter Ecology, Inc. damaged. NOTE: If you are returning finishes, it is best to take them to a local UPS store and let them box the product up and ship it. If you insure it, any damages become their liability, not yours. All my finish products are considered non-hazardous, so there should not be a problem returning them via UPS.
4. Shelter Ecology, Inc. reserves the right to refuse a refund or credit for product returns based on the following evidence:
– the product was damaged in some way prior to receiving the return
– improper installation
– improper storage
– any other reason based on misuse of product.
5. Special order products are non-refundable
