Rowe

The Rowe farmhouse in Asheville, NC was built in 1928. The Rowes wanted to add more space due to an expanding family, without compromising the charm of the old farmhouse. They also wanted to make some changes to the physical look of the house without adding any pretentious elements.

The results were to add dormers to rooms that desperately need a bit more space along with a small addition off the back of the house, bringing space and light into rooms that did not have it previously.

The Rowes had a green focus with a budget, like most people! They chose to use recycled shipping pallette flooring (available in Asheville) along with more natural and low toxic finishes where possible. Shelter Ecology, Inc. was primarily responsible for the architectural and interior design of the addition and rennovation along with the suggestion of the contractor the Rowes decided to work with.
